Tijana Popovic

BIOGRAPHY

Tijana was born and raised in the heart of British Columbia. Even from an early age she showed interest in the performing arts, beginning with puppet shows, impromptu performances and skits wherever she could find a stage. In her younger years Tijana involved herself in school and community theatre productions, showing a voracious appetite and a level of commitment uncommon in children her age. For several years she was also a member of the world renowned Die Meister Singer's Children's Choir, traveling and performing internationally.

After high school Tijana was accepted to the Mount Royal Conservatory Theatre program and made the move to Calgary, Alberta. She spent the next 2 years studying theatre intensely, and was able to work with top caliber instructors such as JP Fournier, Joe Norman Shaw, Jane McFarlane and Val Pearson.

Immediately after graduating, Tijana was offered a position in an independent theatre company, MobHit Productions, as well as working with the respected theatre company, Theatre Junction. During this time Tijana was also involved with various independent film productions and commercials.  Panic Attack screened on closing night of the CSIF's $100 Film Festival.

Tijana's next move brought her further westward still, to downtown Toronto, where she continued her training and expanded her resume. Tijana has been fortunate to study with some of Canada's top instructors, David Rotenberg, Bruce Clayton, Rae Ellen Bodie, Debora Joy and David Smukler, as well as studying improvisation at the internationally renowned Second City. While living in Toronto she expanded her resume and was privileged to work in theatre, film, tv and commercials.

Tijana recently relocated to Vancouver from Toronto and has been working non-stop since she arrived.

Tijana is very excited to be represented by Maughan Mariani at Infinite Artists (Vancouver) in order to take her work as a professional actor to the next level. Tijana is currently studying with Shea Hampton and has several independent projects in production...stay tuned.

"It was a joy to have Tijana in my classes.  She's the kind of student that you like to teach; she's a hard worker, always prepared...and comes back the next week with the stuff.  Tijana is willing to do the work to get her where she wants to go."
Bruce Clayton, Professional Actor's Lab (Toronto)

"Tijana is the kind of talent that is instantly recognizable.  You don't have to draw out her ability because you can recognize it instantly.  When it comes to comedy, some
people have it and some people don't.  Tijana has got it...
Ryan Thompson, Director/Writer, Slightly Off Colour

"Some actors would hear the clapboard and you'd see a subtle change in their faces
and demeanor and with Tijana you didn't see that.  She was always in character and
it made it a little more real and interesting."
Jereme Watt, Director/Writer
